How fast can I drive with the Spikes-Spider?
According to the law, 50 km/h is the maximum speed limit driving with snow chains. However, you should always adapt your driving style to accommodate the road and traffic conditions. Hard, abrupt braking, wheel spin and "sport like" cornering, on all snow chains, leads to increased material wear and tear and in many cases to vehicle damage.

The Spikes-Spider Compact is, like ALL Spikes-Spider models, a fully fledged snow chain, with all necessary standards and approvals, thus allowing them to be driven on roads where snow chains are compulsory.
Can the Spikes-Spider be driven in Switzerland?
Yes, the Spikes-Spider holds, along with the KBA, (German Motor Vehicle Office) and the ONORM (Austria), the type approval of the Federal Roads Office in Switzerland. Copies of other approvals and permits, including the U.S.A, can be found on the last pages of the operating instructions.
How do I find the optimal Spikes-Spider model for my vehicle?

Is the Spikes-Spider suitable for ¨narrow wheel arches¨ and ¨aluminium rims¨ ?
Yes. The distance between the wheel and wheel arch must be at least 3cm regarding narrow wheel arches. For aluminium wheels there are no restrictions whatsoever as there are no points of contact between the rim and the Spikes-Spider.
With a four-wheel drive vehicle, on which wheels do I mount the Spikes-Spider?
Generally the Spikes-Spider is mounted on the drive wheels. However, we do recommend that you read the vehicle operating manual, as instructions may vary from manufacturer to manufacturer.
I've owned a Spikes-Spider for years. My new vehicle has a different tyre size. Will the Spikes-Spider fit on the new size tyres?

How do I find which adapter I need, my vehicle is not listed in the adapter table?
Which adapter you need is based on the wrench size of your wheel bolts/nuts. (17mm, 19mm,21mm etc.) Simply determine what size wheel nuts/bolts you have and that will be the required adapter size.
How far must the screws be tightened when mounting the adapter plate?
In general all components must be tightened with the special torque wrench supplied.
Detailed instructions, together with all necessary information and images are to be found in the adapter operating instructions.
After a trip I can barely pull the red handle on the locking disc out.
What can I do?
Depending on how the vehicle was parked with the mounted Spikes-Spider, it is possible that the system has come under tension, and, as a result, the red locking lever cannot be easily freed. You can reduce the tension by vigorously moving the black locking disc with both hands, to the left and right.
Are all Spikes-Spider models adjustable for all types and sizes?
All Spikes-Spider snow chains are adjustable up to 20cm, which allows the Spikes-Spider to be used on other tyres with different dimensions.
Why are "Spikes-Spider" products offered at significantly lower prices on the Internet?
Unfortunately these are NOT Spikes-Spider products. They are illegal copies with a vastly inferior quality, often from an Asian manufacturer. The approvals and permits are often fake, thus making the product an unapproved and unaccepted snow chain. Often original pictures of the Spikes-Spider are used so as to convince the customer they are buying the original product.
